Homework week of 1/27/2020: HW T2-7

6th grade homework: invention convention scoring guide!
The link above will take you to the Invention Convention scoring guide! Students do not have homework this week except to work on their projects!

On a sheet of notebook paper, answer the following questions in complete sentences:
Choose 3 scientists from the article and describe the jobs they do. For each of the 3 scientists, identify which branch of science they probably studied when they were in college: botany, zoology, microbiology, chemistry, genetics.

On a sheet of notebook paper, respond to the following questions in complete sentences:
1. What is a Technical Advisor, and what does that career have to do with science?
2. IDENTIFY one example of a scientifically inaccurate scenario from pop culture given in the article. Explain-using what you know about science-the problems with that scenario.
3. Do you think it's important for fiction entertainment to be scientifically accurate? Give reasons to support your answer!

For your carousel today, you will need to report out to the class about different sources of electrical energy.

1. How does this form of energy produce electricity?
2. Pros/cons
3. Where is this energy source most commonly used (and why?)

READ the article, watch the video and then write a short paragraph OR draw a diagram that EXPLAINS the best way to shoot a rubber band AND describes the energy transfers occurring when shooting a rubber band.
